The locking plate has progressively but especially very recently become part of today's orthopaedic and traumatology surgeon's arsenal of osteosynthesis techniques. However, the concept of the locking plate itself often continues to be misunderstood and consequently even misjudged. Briefly, the locking plate behaves like an external fixator but without the disadvantages of an external system not only in the transfixion of the soft tissues, but also in terms of its mechanics and the risk for sepsis. It is actually more an "internal fixator"

 

 

Advantages of titanium alloy locking plate:
(1) Titanium alloy locking plates have good biocompatibility, can promote the formation of callus, have high fatigue strength, are light in weight, and have low elastic modulus.
(2) The titanium alloy locking plate adopts hot pressing forming process, which has high product strength and good quality.
(3) The strength of titanium alloy plates is 2.7 times that of pure titanium plates, so it can withstand greater stress (body weight) without breaking. Indirectly, it also shows that it has a higher anti-fatigue ability, and has a higher safety factor and therapeutic effect in clinical practice.
(4) Titanium alloy plates have similar elastic deformation capabilities, that is, stiffness, to pure titanium plates. In clinical use, they promote callus formation, reduce stress shielding effects, and are conducive to early healing and recovery of fractures.
